We have frequent flyers, some travel everyday for work, some travel weekly for weekends, some travel once a year. Yet flying in a plane is a dream for millions out there. They see the plane in the air, and they wonder when they will be in it. I am sure that one day they will fly. Flying was luxury transportation for the rich in the past, but nowadays the domestic flight is cheaper than a first class train journey.
Flying in an airplane was a joy for many of us in the past. We always used to look forward to flying. We could count the months, days and nights before the journey, and some of us would not be able to sleep if the flight was in the early morning and we might miss the flight. We would choose and select the right outfit for the flight, and on the day we would get to the airport hours before the necessary time. At the departure date we would want to be the first ones in. Once the announcement is made for boarding, we would queue to get on board. We would rush to the airplane to get the seat, even though had already been allocated the seat at the check-in desk.
The majority of passengers are used to economy class flights, only because it is cheap and affordable. We are not too bothered about services offered by the airline, as long as it is affordable. Once the plane is in the air and the seat-belt sign is off, you may notice that many people in economy class are sleeping. This is how I did it.
When you choose your flight, make sure the flight is not over booked. When you select your seat online, choose the back section of the airplane, then choose the middle row with three or four seats. If you are choosing your seat a day before the flight, check if the middle row has three seats available. Go to the gate on time, don’t go late, and when the boarding announcement is made, don’t rush to the aircraft. Wait until everyone has boarded and, if possible, try to be the very last one to board the plane (the flight will not go without you, trust me).
If you are the last one on board then when you enter the aircraft, don’t look for your seat. Instead go to the back section, and keep an eye on the middle row. Once three or four seats together have been found, take the middle one. Once the plane is in the air and the seat-belt signs are off, pull the handles up, arrange the three pillows and blankets, and enjoy your sleep. Sleep in economy is a self-upgraded class of sleep, and you get it all the way to your destination. If this doesn’t work, then you can’t complain about it to anyone because you haven’t paid for the up-grade. Then again, you haven’t lost anything.
